When it comes to supporting independent media, community media outlets like Open Signal and Metro East provide much to the Portland area. Their support includes training, equipment, studio space, and an opportunity for folks to broadcast on local cable stations.

A proposed regulation change could eliminate funding for this community service. Until December 14th, the Federal Communications Commission is taking comment on the issue.
