Hello all… we have to start with some sad news about the passing of Jo Lynne Cooper-Nearing. Barbara Bader wrote this up and let me to share it.
Life is short and precious… let us value it in every moment and every interaction.
“Jo Lynne Cooper-Nearing died May 2 from complications from strokes and lung cancer. She touched many lives and saved more than a few.
Jo worked hard to improve livability in Lents as the LNA Board’s Public Safety Chair until her resignation following a stroke in January. Her concern for all things Lents continued as she worked hard to recover during months of therapy and rehab.
There will be a celebration of her beautiful life the second week of June. Details to come.
Jo Lynne: you are missed.”
Thank you for your work, Jo Lynne. 🙂
FRIDAY
“Community Chef Jeniffer Kirton will be sharing her views on human compassion as she leads this cooking workshop, with a menu featuring: Jamaican chicken curry, tofu and veggie stir fry, and Callaloo (a delicious and nutrient-dense popular Jamaican leafy vegetable that is often mistaken for a weed in our region!) Come learn and share experiences, cook a delicious meal together, and enjoy a fun evening with loved ones and community members at our workshop! Vegetarian/vegan options available. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions!
Please contact thao@zengerfarm.org or at 503-282-4245 x108 for more information regarding the workshop and registration information.
The Zenger Farm Community Chef program supports women food leaders who nourish and strengthen communities by sharing food, knowledge and building solidarity, so that we can shape a just food system together.”

“We are taking the archives on the road and traveling to neighborhood libraries. Drop by and learn what you can find in the City’s collections and how you can do your own research. City archivists are ready to answer questions and get you started on your research projects. Even if you don’t have any specific questions, stop by to look at historic photos from the surrounding neighborhoods.
First come, first served.”
